There was a big bang as I discovered table top wargaming at the tender age of 10 thanks to my brother buying an old copy of White dwarf magazine in 1988, not knowing what it was (he just liked the pictures) he was getting both of us into. We read through the magazine so many times admiring the beautiful models on display. We then preceded to write a shopping list of models we wanted to buy not having a clue about what they were or what game they were for so ended up with a list of models for Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer 40k, Space marine (old epic for the old boys and girls out there) among many other old classic games Games workshop made back in the day. It would have cost us in the region of about a years pocket money to buy but we had found something we really wanted to do.
We then continued to buy more copies of White dwarf and began to learn about the different systems and realised our mistake with our shopping list and then settled on the games we wanted to do, my brother went for Warhammer 40k and I went for Fantasy, I just loved the monsters back then which were few but stunning. 4th Edition was my first foray into the hobby, back when the boxed games was High elves and Goblins with the old cut outs for the big stuff but it was a stunning box of models that just captured my imagination.
After many many many years (30) doing this hobby, of which they have been grand I have finally decided to join the 21st century and start a Blog about my extensive hobby and my painting, if nothing else to give me the kick up the backside to get things done as over the years I have had many painted models but sadly more often than not they have been sold due to rules changes and games changing like the death of Warhammer Fantasy (RIP) to that god awful travesty called age of Sigmar which first brought us pre curser Space Marines during the Time just before the great crusade, (No matter what anyone tells you from Games workshop) Sigmarines are here to stay sadly.
